Running
\nThe wind and I traded excited cries
\nWhile the waves crashed on the shore
\nTrying to interrupt our conversation
\nWho says the earth isn’t alive?
\nThe beach, with stones scattered in jagged fragments like lies
\nOr smooth and round like promises
\nThe forest with leaves that rustle like whispers
\nAnd flowers that bloom with abandon
\nThe wind calls to me to come out
\nTo be wild and unafraid
\nTo feel the bones of the Mother under my feet
\nTo run free from the books and artificial lights
\nThat make me feel old and withered
\nAnd so I listen, and I leave the warmth of the house
